AFAFI Nord

The AFAFI North program is part of the continued support of the European Union to the agricultural sector in Madagascar.

Goals

It aims to develop a sustainable, inclusive and efficient agricultural sector in 3 regions of northern Madagascar, with the specific objectives of: (i) improving the governance of the agricultural sector, (ii) increasing household incomes by developing and strengthening inclusive value chains, (iii) improve the food and nutrition security of rural households.

Expected results

• Strengthen the capacities of Ministries (central and regional) to plan, coordinate, monitor and implement or delegate actions.
• Support the capacity building of the various stakeholders within the sectors (technical services, professional organizations, local authorities, technical centers, support operators, etc.)
• Contribute to good coordination with other projects and programs operating in the 3 regions concerned
• Provide technical expertise to develop the value chain approach for the development of regional sectors
• Ensure a link between the institutional strengthening program of the Ministries of Rural Development (RINDRA program) and operational activities in the field (strengthening of the regulatory and normative framework, sector management, sector coordination, support for sovereign monitoring / control functions, etc.
