The Regional Program for Food and Nutrition Security (PRESAN) was adopted by the Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) in February 2016. In order to improve food and nutrition security and contribute to the reduction of poverty in IOC member countries, PRESAN promotes increased productivity, production, competitiveness and inter-island trade in agricultural products. The project aimed to support the IOC to set up in Antananarivo the Regional Food and Nutritional Security Unit (URSAN) whose mandate is the implementation of PRESAN and the mobilization of resources from donors.
