BVPI SE/HP is an agricultural development project whose particularity is to implement a spatial approach based on the concept of watershed and hydro-agricultural perimeter defined within the framework of the national policy for the development of watersheds and Irrigated perimeters implemented within the National BVPI Program. The actions of the project are located within this space in order to allow the development of productive activities taking into account the different potentials offered by the successive environments (irrigated crops, rainfed crops on hills or on more or less flooded lowlands, rangeland, forestry).
The overall objective of the BVPI Sud Est Hauts Plateaux project is to sustainably increase farmers' incomes in watersheds and irrigated areas while preserving the environment. These include: - Developing agricultural production, by promoting appropriate techniques, in particular agro-ecological, rice intensification in areas where irrigation is controlled, and the diversification of production; - Preserve the environment and secure the operation of hydro-agricultural facilities by giving priority to techniques that combine production and protection; - Strengthen the institutional capacities of municipalities, certain private or associative partners (OP and AUE) and decentralized State services, with the aim of gradually transferring to them the project management of the various activities
A watershed-based approach, landscape planning and synchronization of landscape activity leading to improved agricultural ecosystem services.
Development of DMC practices (systems adapted to each region), reforestation integrating fruit trees), rice intensification with SRI and SRA practices,
Development of an approach for adapting systems in rural areas, and participatory support for the selection of suitable rice varieties (in the Highlands and the Middle West in particular).
Land security through the development of land certificates.
